Opis
In tackling the project since its implementation and impact on the urban environment has always been considered one premise: the project requires a certain level of respect on the boundary conditions that have historically defined the area of Badel Block. The intervention demanded a certain presence and force from the local level, a strategy able to qualify this new area of the city of Zagreb.
The project comes in response therefore to the boundary conditions of the site. The fortified nature of the project, which we could consider to be the second decision regarding its physical shape, also arises from its relationship with the immediate surroundings. The new project Badel Block is a combination of two pieces that respond to different scales is capable of generating a strong and unified image of the project. The first building was developed in horizontal collecting the perimeter of the site, including the historic facade protected and organized inside a pentagonal great void that embraces the existing factory and creates a new public space for the city.This horizontal building responds to the urban scale of the site. Commercial and residential house, while recovery of the existing building within the new plaza is intended for cultural uses. Facing the horizontal strategy to respond to the urban boundary conditions arises a vertical piece that responds to the local scale of the project. This is an office tower and hotel group born from the height of the volume extracted to generate the large public space project. This building is intended to be a landmark for the city of Zagreb, giving great flexibility to its scale (office / hotel / office + hotel).
The strategy that unifies the project is based on the composition of the facade elements, which surround the two parts of the project with horizontal bands able to control the sunlight in the interior spaces.
