Opis
This entry has as its main goal to highlight the position of Distillery building, assuming its dimensions – circa 25 m X 37 m – fitted in a 12.5m grid, that is extendable to the competition area and the interventions followed strictly this guideline. In addition to the requested uses, it is proposed a Community Center for Sports and Arts. This center uses the historical building, the new building of Gorica Façade and the Auditorium in underground level, being the great connector to the other uses planned to the block, giving coherence to the uses in the surrounding area of Kvaternikov Sq. It is not intended to be sponsored by the the City of Zagreb, but by big corporations, chambers of commerce and industry, associations of corporations or trade unions. This kind of organization is common worldwide and follow a logical partnership: the sponsor greets the population back with a plenty of opportunities, public services, amenities, sports, arts and culture and in the other hand, the corporations are greeted with good public image before the population and tax incentives from governments. This assures an intensive and extensive forms of constructing identity between government, corporations, citizens and society and can be extended for other Zagreb neighborhoods or big and mid-sized croatian cities. This proposal rejects the proposition of 65000m² GBA believing that would be suitable for real estate speculation and underestimating the historic heritage and critical for the contemporary city need of good public spaces, once it would be necessary to improve heavy density. However, the public spaces are generous, enhancing urban values. The sustainability, in its various forms, was assured in order to provide a rational proposal.
