Opis
Badel block project aims to achieve high urban and socio-economic values while maintaining a sense of place with revitalized industrial heritage. With the old yeast factory as main building and the focal point of the block the final solution is characterized by its functionality that makes it potential city cultural center of the future.
The block itself was divided into various zones. Using the old yeast factory as an orienteer, a variety of visual connections were made with the surroundings so the given solution allows diversity of amenities and proposes a mix of commercial ,residential, cultural and leisure space uses with the new value being added carefully and with respect to maintaining balance.
Apart from being the centre of the block the old factory serves as a foaye to the amphitheathe, guiding people and showing its reconstruction and a unique take on the notion of architectural interpolations in perserved industrial heritage buildings. It features two parralel auditoriums one above the other, one indoors, one outdoors.
Old Gorica factory façade was incorporated into the new building intended for a high-class hotel. The second residential zone (nearer to Kvaternikov Trg Sqare) uses one wall of the old Arko factory as a facade and as a passageway into the Badel block from Vlaška Street. With the high-rise tower as a visual focal point, marking the place of Zagreb''s industrial heritage.
