Opis
INFINITY PLAZA transforms the Badel Block into an interconnected, multi-featured public infrastructure and urban development that synthesizes the unconventional with the traditional. We believe that the Badel Block site provides opportunities for rich spatial experience and productive cultural value. As a result, our project concentrates on the liveliness of the surrounding city to add aesthetic values and social activities to the Zagreb community in an exciting new development. The concept for the project is a figure-8 continuous loop that circulates through the site creating two architectural/landform buildings (bent bar and twist tower) that surround and invigorate the central plaza. Additionally, the new development incorporates and refurbishes the three protected structures: the Distillery and the two facades. This synthesis deftly identifies the latent potential for this site, creating a natural uniformity with the Zagreb city proper and city outskirts.
The architecture of INFINITY PLAZA uses a novel architectural language to challenge Zagreb city planning, taking a progressive step towards the future of internationally renowned architectural design. The bent bar is designed to feature an interior street, secondary courtyards, and interstitial avenues that create porosity between surrounding functions and add complexity to the spatial experience. The twist tower is culturally iconic while simultaneously supporting the community structures at the ground level by integrating a public café and general admission amphitheater into the figure-8 configuration. We foresee this project not only stimulating the Badel Block and the entire city of Zagreb towards architectural and urban innovation in the future.
