AUDIOVISUAL ARTS CENTER ZAGREB - Leafield
Audiovisual arts gather film, abstract film, experimental film, sound art, sound installation, video art and visual music and refer to the part of contemporary art that belongs to the internet and exhibiting, more than to collecting. This creates a wide field for a community gathering place which would serve both as an indirect educator and direct pastime.
Program was partly driven out of a form of the project (of an event that follows the form) and partly out of a competition brief.
Having in mind the position and essence of Badel block in landscape of the city of Zagreb, as well as the conceptual characteristics of the brief itself, we came to a conclusion that this block needs a specific theme to embed a new atmosphere in the area of the city with already grounded tradition.
Main project features are: Leaf which is a concrete shell slope, New Art Center main building with auditoriums and exhibition spaces, Distillery as exibition space , Gorica Factory building as pansions and canteen and Process building with educational and recreation program.
